Astier de Villatte

Magic – a key word often mentioned when the two founders of the French label Astier de Villatte, Benoit Astier de Villatte and Ivan Pericoli, speak about their design philosophy. Because Astier de Villatte does not just produce scented candles, incense, stationery and tableware: Each product is unusual, unique, and, sure, maybe even a little magical.

Scented Candles

In that sense, it does not come as a surprise that the scented candles produced by Astier de Villatte do not come in drab, one-dimensional scents like vanilla or lavender. The starting point for the olfactory journey Astier de Villatte takes us on are real and fictional places. Each scented candle captures the essence of each city – be it Cambridge, Kobe, Hollywood, Jerusalem or Villa Medici, the names of the candles sound and smell like a world trip. A world trip without leaving your own four walls, you say? This is exactly the kind of magic Astier de Villatte stands for.

The scented candles are of the highest quality, made of a mix of plant-based and beeswax, with wicks of pure, braided cotton and have a burning time of 60-70 hours. They are made in Europe in the most literal sense of the word: the ceramic cup is handmade in the old, Napoleonic silver manufactories in Paris, the glass version is mouth-blown in Tuscany. In addition, there are hand-made ceramic lids available, decorated with eccentric ornaments.
Incense

Astier de Villatte’s incense also follow the principle of the olfactory world journey. They are made by hand and with loving care on a small Japanese island with a long-standing incense tradition. To accompany the incense, we carry the Astier de Villatte incense-holder, which are not only decorative, but also, following the Astier de Villatte way, a little eccentric: Have you ever seen a cat blow smoke from its mouth?

Cleanser

The Astier de Villatte cleanser is an especially charming product – it is a delicate, toxin-free dish soap, suitable for your most precious china and a cute gift for the glamorous host. Gentle on dishes and hands.

Trudon

Other scented candles that hail from France are from the house of Trudon, the oldest wax manufacturer in the world. Since 1643, Trudon has been dealing in candles, supplying royal and imperial courts, churches and Paris high society with candles for centuries.

Exquisite scents and a wax so pure it is mentioned as exemplary in the 1762 reference book ‘The Art of Wax Drawing’ by Henri Louis Duhamel du Monceau – Trudon scented candles will spark joy for a long time in more senses than one, seeing as Trudon is committed to bee conservation in the natural preserve Perche in the southwest of Paris.

The candles are completely natural, free of paraffin wax and other toxins, and are poured into hand-made glass containers. In addition to the large-size scented candles with 270 grams, mini versions with 70 grams are also available.
