What is the definition of quality? One defining moment, certainly, is how long a design can endure, both from an aesthetic and functional point of view. Another one is durability thanks to the materials used and the quality of workmanship. The quality of materials and workmanship proves itself over time, putting furniture makers in a position to create classics which stand the test of time and increase in value.
A sustainable idea, which the carpenter and architect Hans J. Wegner surely would have liked. In 2024, we would like to celebrate the innovative designer’s 110th birthday and for this reason, we are happy to offer the legendary CH24 on its own or together with the CH327 Dining in teakwood at a very attractive price.
The original design of the CH327 table was a combination of oiled teak and oak detailing, and this very version is being revived. Carl Hansen & Søn makes this table from FSC-certified teakwood, which is known for its immense sturdiness, stability and lively coloring. The initial orange-brown of the wood turns reddish with time, making it a perfect companion for warm, cozy environments.
The Wishbone Chair is a chair which was inspired by the chairs of the Chinese Ming Dynasty. With its Y-shaped backrest, the Wishbone Chair has become an icon. The slender back offers comfort and freedom of movement at the same time and carries the armrests as well, which are made from the same piece of wood as the backrest – a masterpiece of craftsmanship, and just one example of the high quality standards at Carl Hansen & Søn.
As simple as Wegners designs may seem from today’s point of view, at the time of their creation, the complex constructions proved a real challenge to the master carpenter, pushing him to the boundaries of what is possible.
Even today, more than 100 steps are needed to manufacture a Wishbone Chair – weaving the paper cording for the seat alone takes an hour. This is how modern Danish Design is made.
Hans J. Wegner originally designed the CH24 chair in oiled teak with fine oak details, now this version can be revived. Carl Hansen & Søn produces the classics from FSC-certified teak, which is characterized by high strength, stability and a vibrant color. The orange-brown changes over time to a reddish brown and therefore appears warm and homely.
Until December 31st, 2024 we are happy to offer the Hans J. Wegner classics at a discount of up to 35%.
This poses another question: What is the definition of luck? We will be happy to share further information about this special offer in our Munich showroom or virtually with the help of samples. We are looking forward to your inquiry!
