Nymphenburg Tulip Votive

Votive
Ted Muehling, 2002
Porzellanmanufaktur Nymphenburg

Tulips were first cultivated in the Ottoman Empire and reached Europe in the 16th century, where they quickly advanced to be an object of desire of the bourgeoisie, scholars and aristocrats. Back then as well as today the flowers delight with their lush, elegant symmetry, which Ted Muehling’s tulip votive captures gorgeously.

The tulip votive is elaborately handmade in white glazed porcelain. It owes its superbly beautiful glowing properties to the varying thickness of the porcelain at its different parts.

Also available in black biscuit porcelain
