Denmark, 1930s: Massive chandeliers are the to-go living room lighting. But then one designer makes a big step into the Modern Era – Poul Henningsen presents his PH 5- 4 ½ Pendant Lamp, a slender, elegant and most of all light alternative to the heavy candelabra.

 

The PH 5- 4 ½ gets its characteristic looks from Henningsen’s three shade-technique, which guarantuees a glare-free, diffuse light. A trumpet shaped element has been added to the top of the shades, so that the light may be distributed to the sides as well.
