PK52 & PK52A
“These unique tables tell a story of how Poul Kjærholm evolved as a designer. How he did not shy back from challenging his colleagues and established design principles, how he found his own way of creating furniture. He found a new lightness through the combination of steel and wood, which was unusual at the time.”, Knud Erik Hansen, CEO or Carl Hansen & Søn, explains.
The PK52 and PK52A desks are therefore inhibited by an understated elegance – matching the halls of the Royal Danish Academy of Art, for whose professors Kjærholm, who was a professor there himself, designed them. Consequently, the PK52 was eventually named Professor Desk, while the shorter PK52A became known as Student Desk.
The PK52/PK52A are made up of a frame made of powder-coated steel (black/grey) and a table top made of oak or Oregon pine. The table top may be soaped, varnished, or oiled. An additional drawer module is also available.
